Meet Gutward — your personal guide
Food, symptoms and reintroductions — finally connected.
Gutward helps you follow a structured food journey, record meaningful changes and build a clearer picture of what works for you — all in one calm, organised place.
Built from lived experience with Crohn's disease. Designed to support clearer conversations with dietitians and care teams — not replace them.
- Built from lived experience
- A tracker records what happened — Gutward guides the process
- Designed to work alongside clinical care
Your health journey shouldn't live across notes, apps and memory.
Food, symptoms and reintroductions are easier to understand together than scattered across separate places.
Too much scattered information
A reaction rarely tells the whole story
Tracking can become another burden
More than a symptom tracker
Available in betaTracking what happened is useful. A structured process is better.
- 1
Follow
Work through a structured protocol and see which stage you're on.
- 2
Record
Keep meals, symptoms and bowel patterns together.
- 3
Test
Follow guided reintroduction steps and record what happens.
- 4
Review
Build a personal picture of what's tolerated over time.
A clearer way to test foods
Gutward guides you through each step, keeps the observations with the trial and records what you decide at the end — the aim isn't to declare that one food caused a reaction.
- 1Choose the food being tested.
- 2Follow the staged exposure and observation steps.
- 3Record relevant symptoms and bowel changes.
- 4Save the outcome to your personal food picture.
Build a food picture that belongs to you
A general food list can't reflect your full experience. Gutward helps you organise foods into what you tolerate, don't tolerate, are monitoring or haven't tried yet — without diagnosing an intolerance or determining causation.
- Current protocol and stage.
- Personal exclusions and allergies.
- Foods tolerated, not tolerated, being monitored or not yet tried.
- A record that can develop as circumstances change.
From “Can I eat this?” to a practical next step
Everyday tools to help you act on your plan, not just record it.

What's coming next
Planned- Ingredient and barcode checking against your plan
- Recipe adaptation and ingredient substitutions
- Additional structured protocols beyond AIP
- The Gutward AIP Cookbook — included with Gutward when released
- A registered-dietitian directory
- Sleep, medication and wearable context alongside food trials
- Clear reports and shareable summaries for appointments and professional support
Gutward can surface concurrent changes like these — it won't claim they caused a symptom.
A calm guide for the next useful step
Gutward supports the process without judging the result — explaining the next step, prompting useful context and acknowledging when observations are saved.
- “Ready for the next step in your food trial?”
- “Recording changes helps build a clearer picture over time.”
- “A difficult day is still useful information.”
Help clients follow their plan between appointments
Gutward gives clients a structured way to record food, symptoms and reintroductions between consultations — clinical decisions stay with qualified professionals.
- Structured food-trial records.
- Relevant events reviewed together, not from memory.
- Future dietitian-created plans and client summaries.
Built from lived experience
Kyle Tibbles was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 2019. In 2026, a serious recurrence led to hospital treatment, a six-week liquid diet and a difficult return to food.
Managing protocols, food lists, symptoms, meals and reintroductions across scattered notes and apps exposed the exact problem Gutward is built to solve.
Kyle's background building practical systems — from military vehicle fleets to property and project workflows — shaped how Gutward organises a complicated journey. Gutward is designed to complement qualified medical and dietetic support, not replace it.
Support for the journey — not a replacement for care
Gutward helps you organise information and follow structured steps. It doesn't diagnose conditions, determine causation, recommend treatment or replace a qualified healthcare professional.
- Ingredient checks relate to your plan and exclusions — not universal safety assessments.
- Manufacturer packaging remains the final authority for allergens.
- Correlations are shown as context, not causation.
Frequently asked questions
What can I use in the beta today?
Recording meals, symptoms and bowel patterns, following the AIP protocol structure, guided food trials with saved outcomes, your personal food picture (tolerated, not tolerated, monitoring or untested), reviewing everything in History, importing recipes from photos with compatibility checking, and weekly meal planning with a combined shopping list.
Is Gutward medical advice?
No. Gutward helps organise information and follow structured tracking or food-reintroduction steps. It does not diagnose, recommend treatment or replace advice from a qualified healthcare professional.
Is Gutward only for people with Crohn's disease?
Gutward is being built from lived experience of Crohn's disease, but the same problem — food, symptoms and reintroductions scattered across notes, apps and memory — affects people following structured elimination and reintroduction protocols for other reasons too. AIP is Gutward's first complete protocol; suitability still depends on your own clinical circumstances.
Does Gutward support diets other than AIP?
AIP is Gutward's first complete protocol. Additional structured protocols and professionally created plans are part of the longer-term product direction.
Is the AIP Cookbook included?
The Gutward AIP Cookbook is planned and will be included with Gutward when released. Its final format is still being developed.
Will the scanner tell me whether a food is safe?
The planned ingredient checker will show how a product fits your selected protocol, current stage and recorded exclusions. It will not provide a universal safety guarantee, and you must always check the manufacturer's current label for allergens and ingredient changes.
Are dietitian consultations included?
No. Access to a directory of registered dietitians is planned, but consultations and professional services will be booked and paid for separately.
Will Gutward connect to sleep and health data?
Sleep, health-app and wearable integrations are planned. They're intended to add useful context around symptoms and food trials, not to diagnose causes.
Can Gutward diagnose a food allergy or intolerance?
No. Logged observations can't diagnose an allergy, intolerance or sensitivity, and the food-trial tools must not be used to test a known or suspected allergy without appropriate professional direction.
